Dominica
The paradise island in the Lesser Antilles

Between Guadeloupe and Martinique lies an island that offers privacy and unspoiled nature: Dominica. A natural beauty that appears so pristine with its cloud forests, hot sulfur springs, and emerald green waterfalls that it served as the perfect backdrop for Hollywood.
During the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean”, Dominica became the hideout for Captain Jack Sparrow and his pirates.
Dense rainforests, dramatic cliffs, and hidden bays around Soufrière, Morne Trois Pitons, and the Indian River near Portsmouth provided authentic locations for the Hollywood production.

Today, the Antillean island is primarily a paradise for hikers and divers.
Dominica's coastline drops steeply into the depths, offering ideal conditions for spectacular dives. At Champagne Reef, countless small gas bubbles bubble up from volcanic rock, making the sea sparkle.
In Scotts Head Marine Reserve, you can glide between coral walls, colorful sponges, and sunken lava formations. Even experienced divers rave about the biodiversity: sea turtles, seahorses, pygmy fish, and sometimes even a curious sperm whale can be observed up close here.
Dominica has retained its original and wild character. If you don't want to dive, a canoe trip on the Indian River or a hike through the tropical forests offers an indescribably beautiful nature experience. If you want to feel the untouched nature and its healing power,
you should visit the Secret Bay resort.

In the exclusive all-villa resort with 27 private villas, each with its own infinity pool, gourmet kitchen, and butler service. Gregor Nassief and his wife Sandra have created a paradise for guests with Secret Bay. The project is a true love story, as Gregor Nassief tells mavi.

I was born in Dominica and experienced nature there intensely as a young boy.
I swam to a hidden cove called Secret Beach, climbed cliffs, and roamed through tropical forests. Dominica has always been a place close to my heart.

After completing my studies in the United States, I founded a software company and lived in Latin America for 15 years. I met the artist Sandra Vivas at an art exhibition in Caracas. I fell in love with her art and her fascinating personality. We became a couple and I took Sandra with me to Dominica. Over the years, I had purchased small plots of land there with the aim of one day fulfilling my dream of building a resort.
Sandra's father, Fruto Vivas, was one of Latin America's most renowned architects. When he visited us in Dominica for the first time, he was visibly moved and amazed by the beauty of nature. As a wedding gift, he presented Sandra and me with the designs for our home and Secret Bay.
Fruto's vision of organic architecture, in which buildings and nature merge, is what makes our resort so unique to this day. It embodies our family's love of nature,
architecture and art.

Our Secret Bay concept offers privacy, luxury and pure hospitality. Each villa has its own pool and butler service, which caters to the individual wishes of our guests. The villas are located high above the sea, in the middle of the rainforest, and offer access to three private beaches and a grotto. Our guests can explore the island on foot from our location and bathe in two hot volcanic springs, dive with whales or visit the Kalinago, the original natives of the island. For hikers, there is the Waitukubuli National Trail, which leads through unspoilt nature.
My favourite places on the island are my veranda, from where I can look out over the sea and am surrounded by rainforest; the legendary Secret Beach, which I have known since my childhood; Bwa Denn, where I exhibit my art collection; and, of course, wherever
my wife Sandra is.
