Puglia
Puglia is where Italian joie de vivre meets Mediterranean serenity.
Picture endless olive groves rolling toward the horizon, gleaming whitewashed towns, ancient ports, secluded beaches, and dramatic cliffside caves.
This is a region of contrasts and quiet charm.

Tucked between Bari and Brindisi, near the quaint village of Cisternino and the hilltown of Ostuni, lies a serene escape lovingly created by local host Anna. Close to her childhood home, she has transformed two traditional buildings into private holiday sanctuaries: Villa Lamia dei Tramonti and an authentic Trullo, those iconic cone-roofed stone dwellings unique to Apulia. The villa comfortably sleeps four, with two additional sofa beds for larger groups. Just next door, the Trullo welcomes up to four more guests, making the property ideal for families or friends traveling together.
It‘s spacious enough for up to 10 people.

The villa’s centerpiece is a spacious pool flanked by a sun-drenched terrace.
It’s the ideal place to watch the sunset melt into the horizon, a glass of local wine in hand, accompanied by sun-warmed tomatoes from the garden, creamy ricotta from a nearby farm, and rustic wood-fired bread. As dusk falls, cicadas sing while a blanket of stars unfurls above.
Anna’s guests fall in love with the meditative stillness and the closeness to nature. They’re welcome to pick ripe figs, cherries, apricots, cactus pears, and almonds straight from the garden. With herbs and vegetables thriving just outside the door, the meaning of farm to table comes beautifully to life. Food is a family affair here. Anna’s father once ran a beloved gelateria nearby, Da Ciccio, named after him (Francesco). His legacy lives on in every scoop of dark chocolate rum gelato and velvety mango sorbet. Anna’s 82-year-old mother, affectionately called Nonna, still cooks with guests, preparing Puglia’s signature orecchiettepasta with ragu or fresh tomato sauce. Her specialties also include melanzane ripiene, a stuffed eggplant baked to perfection. The olive oil? Straight from the family’s own mill. The estate, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, lies just 17 kilometers from the sea.
As a local, Anna knows every hidden beach cove and shares them only with her guests to preserve their untouched beauty. From these secret spots, you can charter a small boat, venture out to sea, and swim alongside dolphins and sea turtles. For those craving the coast, Anna also offers a charming seaside apartment for two, steps from the water.
She holds a special fondness for Brindisi, a timeless port city steeped in over 2.000 years of history.
Once a crucial hub in Roman times, today it's the perfect base for exploring the surrounding countryside or even venturing to the Greek islands. Brindisi’s old town enchants with winding alleys, ancient churches, and the commanding Castello Alfonsino overlooking the harbor. Adventurous travelers can kayak to nearby Sant’Andrea Island, gliding through translucent waters.

She personally calls seaside restaurants to make sure her guests are well taken care of—“It’s a matter of honor,” she insists. Expect platters of freshly caught seafood, clams, and fish, with the local favorite cozze arraganate: oven-baked mussels stuffed with egg, parsley, and cheese.

For a cinematic day trip, Anna recommends Matera, a hilltop town famed for its ancient cave dwellings, the Sassi, carved into the cliffs of the Gravina gorge.
Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Matera served as the stunning backdrop for the James Bond film No Time to Die. Anna can even arrange for a local location scout to guide you through famous filming sites in Matera and nearby Gravina.

Another gem is Ostuni, often called La Città Bianca—The White City. Perched above olive groves and facing the Adriatic Sea, it dazzles with a maze of whitewashed buildings and vibrant window shutters, evoking the charm of the Greek Cyclades.
Ostuni

Anna, who lived in Munich for many years, is the epitome of Italian hospitality. She speaks flawless German and acts as a bridge between cultures. Whether organizing cooking classes or language lessons, she ensures guests feel like part of her extended family.
“Being a host is just who I am,” she says with a smile—and it shows in every detail, every gesture.
