Hair tells stories of beauty and desire, of power and powerlessness, of conformity and rebellion. As a universal language, it has negotiated social, cultural, and political issues for millennia – and determines how people see themselves and are seen.

With HAAR - MACHT - LUIST, the Kunsthalle Munich presents a thematically designed, cross-cultural exhibition that explores the diverse meanings of head and body hair. Around 200 exhibits from antiquity to the present day are on display.
